The longer story (the one I tell architects over coffee):
I started cutting these cylinders about six years ago in my small workshop. The trick is picking blocks that are almost clear in the middle – when the LED hits the stone from below, the light travels through the entire body and comes out buttery and shadow-free. Restaurants love them because the color temperature of the stone makes every plate look more appetizing. Hotels use clusters of 7–15 pieces above reception desks and suddenly the whole entrance feels expensive without screaming “luxury”.
Because the onyx is natural, the veining is never repeatable. That’s a feature, not a bug – your client gets something literally unique. We polish the inside just enough to maximize light transmission, leave the outside matte-smooth so it still feels like touching real stone.
Installation is stupidly simple: one person, 10 minutes. The metal E27 socket holder is recessed and siliconed in place, so the lamp hangs perfectly straight and you never see any ugly metal from the side.
